Another Successful Fish Day at School.

It was a great Fish Day!
Christine brought a Salmon Shark. Big hit!
She also brought a small cat shark. Ok. So if a
Salmon shark eats salmon, then what does a cat shark eat?
heehee.

Lots of fish to touch.

They weighed fish.
Below, someone is holding the lens from the fish's eyeball
and an ear bone removed from the brain.

Adults and older students were in and out of my classroom all day! Here are some of my former kindergarteners who are now in the 4th grade. I love that they still want to come visit kindergarten.
Anna actually stated that she missed "Learning like this." oh....don't get me started on the subject of teaching philosophies today. my BP has a way of going way up there.

The fish stick fish., a Pacific whiting.

Is it me or is there a resemblance there?

The kids enjoyed exploring the fish!

A Sand skate.

Holding an eyeball. It always amazes me that the quiet ones are the ones who are brave enough to touch things like this!

Christine helps a child make a "print."

They were engrossed with the dissection
learning that fish have hearts like we do.

A good time was had by all!!
The best comments of the day came from 3 girls
in the PM class. All 3 stated, "I want to be a fish girl when
I grow up." And this is why I have Christine come talk to us.
It's NOT just about the fish but also about showing a different career choice especially for girls. Girls can do well in math and science careers~ Look at OSU Oceanographer and now head of NOAA, Jane Lubchenko~
