The weather was PERFECT! Lots of sunshine and millions of stars each night. Got to see several shooting stars, too!!
This is the butte we had hoped to climb! Unfortunately, there was a lot of snow on the backside which meant lost trail and hundreds of mosquitos,
Lots of fishing was had! Of the 4000 trout planted 3 wks ago, we brought home 119!! We ate quite a few while camping and we let many go that were caught. So that means, FISHING WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
Of course, WE did not catch ALL of the 119+. Everyone gave us their fish so that Jim could smoke them!! (I have to admit though, that I caught a good number of the fish!!! :)

This year, Ms Rosie had a much better time camping!

She loved chasing the chipmunks! So much so that Jim gave her
the camp name, "Dances with Squirrels!"
Tom led us on a hike. We ended up walking 6 miles round trip gaining about a 1000 ft in a very short time. Actually, we started at the 4000+ ft level and climbed to about 6000 ft. Most of the elevation gain was in the last 1/2 mile. Lots of huffing, puffing, and WORK!! Well worth the effort!!
We passed many small lakes along the way! Top Lake, Upper Lake, and more.
This is Cigar Lake on the Pacific Crest Trail. It brought back some wonderful memories of when Jim and I hiked 100 miles on the PCT from the Santiam Pass to Timberline some 30 yrs ago. gosh, And today, we can still hike!! I LOVE it!!!!
It got even steeper as we continued!!!
This is what some of the last 1/2 mile looked like. It became pretty much vertical at several points....45 degrees up~ Gained 1000ft in a 1/2 mile stretch of switchbacks.
We ran into snow patches that covered the trail but Tom and Brad scouted it out and always found the trail on the other side~The hike was pretty hard. It was listed as "difficult" but we didn't know that at the time! :) Glad that i have been doing "bootcamp." Could NOT have made it to the top of this mtn had I not been working out so hard!!

The view was awesome at the top of Double Peak! Jim is sitting at the extreme top on this boulder. We had to get a "couples" shot with Mt. Jefferson behind us!

We could see into Eastern Oregon and perhaps Warm Springs? Madras? That canyon that one sees going down into Warm Springs....Deschutes River?

It is so pristine! NO POLLUTION unlike Mt Hood! Jeff is a very special place
as when we hiked the PCT, we spent time in Jeff Park. A beautiful place.

Looking north, we saw Mt. Hood. (hi, Potters.)

There were many kids camping in Tom's campsite.

They made everyone breakfast each morning! Pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs! Breakfasts are Tom's speciality!

Brad and Tom played "Beer Pong" only they used water

since they don't drink alcohol...
They too caught many fish!!
LOVED the fishing, the friends, the weather, but mostly, enjoyed THAT hike with Jim, Tom, Anna, and Brad!!
